Student support

Student support

You will not be just a face in the crowd! We restrict the numbers taking our programmes and use these small groups to ensure you will get a high level of support from your lecturers. Not only will we learn your name, but we can provide you with constant updates on how you are performing academically.

Evidence of the success of the level of student support is captured in the following comment made by one of our External Examiners:

"It is very evident that the Subject Area provides a really caring learning environment for the students. One student described it as a ‘small family community’ and that tutors are vigilant in terms of ensuring the students attend and participate in the lectures. This is characteristic of a very efficient and effective personal tutoring system." - Karen Bill, Chief External Examiner, University of Worcester, September 2007

We are a member of the North Wales Regional Institute of Sport. Here at Glyndŵr University we work with many different national governing bodies to support their sport specific development, from grass roots up to performance and elite levels.

One of Glyndŵr University's strengths is our community links to numerous sporting partners within the North Wales area, such as local clubs, local authorities, local colleges/schools and the sport academies within the local area.

Sport facilities

Sport facilities

As a member of the North Wales Regional Institute of Sport we have outstanding facilities, both indoor and outdoor.

We have a great Human Performance Laboratory, which is used not only by a wide range of sports clubs, teams and individual athletes, but also by our students so that they can develop a wide range of lab skills needed for working with athletes.

We have a wide range of performance and technique analysis software, available in our IT labs, to help the coach and athlete improve performance. And when our students take part in sport practicals, they make use of great onsite facilities - which includes the £1m North Wales hockey stadium - as well using the elite North Wales tennis centre, which is right beside the campus.
