Flow Particle Image Analysis

The FPIA-3000 gives high resolution automated analysis of particle size and shape in a reproducible, repeatable and routine manner. The machine is used to study the size and morphology of particles within a range of 1μm to 300μm. Each run takes approximately 3 minutes and measures a statistically significant number of particles which are automatically analysed to give information on particle size distribution and shape. The particle images are stored for future reference.

 

It is mainly used for the measurement of oil in water emulsions, and aqueous based particulate suspensions. Suspensions in water and miscible solvents e.g. methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol and ethylene glycol solution can also be analysed. The particle image analyser can be used in a range of applications, examples include the study of pigments in cosmetics and paints, measuring aggregations of clays and muds and the dispersion of active ingredients of pharmaceuticals.
