Programme Tutor for part time BA Business Management Degree
Neil has been a senior lecturer at the the School of Business since 2000, holding the roles of Programme Tutor for Year 2 undergraduate provision and Disability Coordinator for the Business School.
His main teaching area is business related law at various levels ranging from Masters in Public Sector Management, CIPD programmes, undergraduate and HNC. He is a member of the Disability Working Committee and the SQC Business Committee, Audit and Review Committee.
Neil began his working career as a civil servant, but quickly made the transition to teaching to become the law lecturer at Deeside College, Connah's Quay. Some 9 years later the change from further education to higher education was made when Neil joined the staff of the Business School.
Since that time he has developed his academic profile, becoming a Registered Practitioner of the Higher Education Academy, joint authoring reports for ELWA and Denbighshire County Council, and reviewing business law text books for Pearson Publishing.
In the summer of 2006 Neil developed and hosted a series of presentations entitled ‘Essential Employment Law’ throughout venues in North Wales. Delegates from over 46 local and national companies attended these events.
Neil’s main academic interests lie in employment law. His proposed PhD research is concerned with how employment status is determined. He is also the visiting lecturer on European law at Laapenranta University, Finland and is an Access moderator for the Open College Network.
