There will always be demand for the construction of new buildings whilst existing buildings need care and attention to maintain their potential, adapt to legislative or owner and occupier requirements, and meet performance criteria and economic viability. The conservation and management of our built environment and heritage therefore needs detailed knowledge and specialist skills, not only in traditional and modern construction techniques but also in law, economics, business management and the pathology of defects and deterioration. Key elements of this course are law, technology, economics and the acquisition of professional managerial skills and business knowledge. The course will also help you to develop a range of key personal skills including team leadership, analysis and inquiry, presentation, problem-solving, innovation and project management skills.
