Our work experience services
We recognise the benefit to local business of having quick and easy access to the higher skills and knowledge of talented, intelligent and motivated people. We are committed to providing a professional and efficient service to employers who are interested in accessing these skills.
Our relationships with external organisations are extremely important to us in providing students and graduates with a range of work experience. Please contact us for an informal discussion of your organisation’s needs and what you may be able to offer in terms of relevant work experience for our students or graduates.
The GO Wales Programme
- The GO Wales work experience programme could save your business time and money
- The aim of GO Wales is to supply local businesses with access to high level skills and to help support the growth and development of the local economy
- Glyndŵr University Careers Centre delivers a successful work experience programme via GO Wales, which is managed by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW)
GO Wales Work Placements
- GO Wales work placements offer you the opportunity to employ someone with a degree (or studying for a degree) to complete a project while working for your company for around 10 weeks
- We have offered placements in areas such as marketing, engineering, IT, project management and more
- Placements are primarily aimed at SMEs. Often, small businesses do not have the time or resources to develop ideas and new projects. Sometimes, they don't have the necessary specialist skills to complete a specific task
Benefits of Work Placements
- A choice of high quality skilled and enthusiastic students and graduates
- People with specific knowledge and skills that can add value to your business
- Up to £95 per week towards the weekly wage
- A 6-10 week project completed
- A chance to see if the company can benefit permanently from graduate skills

GO Wales Work Tasters
- Work Tasters are short, flexible, unpaid periods of work experience designed to help undergraduates gain an insight into a particular business sector or career
- We match University students and graduates with local organisations for periods of experience lasting between 1 day and a few weeks
Benefits of Work Tasters
Hosting a Work Taster brings several benefits from a business point of view. You receive:
- The opportunity to offer a student the chance to learn about your organisation or industry
- The chance to help a student make an informed career choice
- The chance to showcase your choice of work to potential recruits
- The chance to make a difference to a local student
