Creative and Applied Research for the Digital Society (CARDS)
Led by Dr Rich Picking, CARDS was created to bring together expertise in both the creative and applied elements of the university’s digital society research.
The centre’s vision is 'art meets science for a sustainable world'. This reflects a strand in the Welsh Government’s June 2010 document Delivering a Digital Wales.
There are ten research groups within CARDS, working under two complementary strands:
Creative Branch
- Art and Design Group (AD-G)
- Humanities Group (H-G)
- Journalism, Media & Performance Group (JMP-G)
- Audio-Visual Technologies Group (AVT-G)
- Environmental Applications and Digital Modelling Group (EPS-G)
Applied Branch
- Networking and Security Technologies Group (NST-G)
- High-Performance Computing and Applications Group (HPCA-G)
- Health Informatics and Technologies Group (HIT-G)
- User Experience Group (UX-G)
- Ethics and Professionalism and Sustainability Group (EPS-G)
Various groups have common links and research interests, and the centre works to promote inter-disciplinary working.
