Our researchGlyndŵr University prides itself on undertaking high quality research, much of it geared towards solving the problems of industry or society. Key facts about our research and examples of major research projects and activities can be found in our Annual Research Report. Published outputs from our research are available from our online Research Repository. Our overall approach to developing our research is contained in our Research Strategy (pdf format). We are involved in research projects from small scale, such as helping local businesses in solving issues, to very large scale, such as helping develop advanced optical technologies for the world’s largest astronomical telescope, to be built at the European Southern Observatory. The emphasis is always on problem-solving and using our latest ideas and state-of-the-art technical know-how, some of which was recognised as “world leading” in the last Research Assessment Exercise. The research activities of the university are coordinated through our research centres. Research students belong to and are supported by our Graduate School. We also participate in GuildHE’s CREST Initiative and the Modern Universities Research Group through which we collaborate on research support and training with other institutions. We have a series of regular open Professorial Lectures where our experts give talks to the public on their latest ideas and thinking, and research centres also run seminar programmes.
