Northop and the local area

Campus location

A superb location

The campus is based in the picturesque village of Northop in Flintshire, north-east Wales.

Set in the heart of the beautiful north Wales countryside, it also has the advantage of being under 15 miles from both Wrexham and Chester.

A mainline railway station at Flint is just 4 miles away and the campus well connected to the A55 North Wales Expressway, quickly linking it to the UK’s motorway network.

Mold

Shopping and the arts within easy reach

The historic market town of Mold is just three miles away.

As well as being a centre for shopping, local government and employment, Mold is home to the highly acclaimed Clwyd Theatr Cymru, which regularly attracts some of the biggest names in theatre, culture and the arts.

Mold also has a 24hr Tesco supermarket, leisure centre and a wide range of other amenities including a street market every Wednesday and Saturday.

Flintshire

Flintshire - county of contrasts

Flintshire is one of the oldest and most distinctive counties in Wales.

It has a rich history and is home to everything from the historic St Winefride's Well and imposing castles to beautiful lighthouses and country parks.

The county has a wealth of leisure and cultural activities and lots of unspoilt countryside.

The wider region is fantastic for outdoor enthusiasts, with activities such as mountain biking, watersports, walking, mountaineering and rock climbing all practically on your doorstep.

Clwydian Range etc

Natural beauty

The Clwydian Range of hills is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; its highest point at 550m, Moel Famau, boasts spectacular views over the Dee Estuary, north to Liverpool and west to Snowdonia.

Offa’s Dyke runs through the area and provides a route to neolithic mound The Gop, from which you can enjoy an uninterrupted 360 degree view of the surrounding Flintshire countryside.

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, near Llangollen in Denbighshire, is a World Heritage Site, and nearby Deeside is home to an Olympic-sized ice skating rink.

Snowdonia etc

Bright lights and outdoor pursuits

Thanks to excellent road and rail links, the cities of Manchester and Liverpool are within easy reach of the campus, as is the breathtaking coastline that runs alongside Conwy, the Great Orme, Deganwy and beyond.

The Snowdonia National Park is less than 50 miles away, adjacent to the beautiful Llŷn Peninsula and the Italianate village of Portmeirion.

Whether it is country or city pursuits that you are most interested in, you will find everything easily accessible from the campus at Northop.
