Financial assistance

Glyndŵr University is able to offer a range of bursaries and financial assistance which will mean that you may not have to pay the full fee by studying here. There is also financial assistance for living costs that you may be eligible for.

Part-time students may be able to have their tuition fees paid under the Funding Council’s Fee Waiver Scheme.

Campus facilities

First rate facilities including a new performing arts space, a new water-based hockey pitch of international standard, a radio studio, computer games laboratory, new facilities at the North Wales School of Art and Design, and a planned Design, Technology and Media centre.

The Plas Coch campus is self-contained and has all the facilities expected of any university. Facilities on the campus include an extensive modern library and learning resource centre; excellent IT facilities including WiFi wireless access; a Sports Centre with an all weather floodlit playing field and the North Wales Regional Hockey Stadium, student accommodation and a Students’ Guild.

There is also a variety of course specific study facilities including a Human Performance Laboratory; theatre studios; recording studios; an art gallery; engineering facilities; a scene of crime suite for the forensic science programmes and a Chinese medicine clinic.

In addition the Regent Street campus houses the North Wales School of Art and Design where there are spacious workshops for all the art specialisms taught at the University. These include animation workshops, dark rooms; wood workshops; design areas; ceramics workshops including glazing areas and pottery workstations; jewellery and metal workshops incorporating kiln rooms; welding bays and an external working area with lean to canopy which provides a space for welding.

There is cost-effective on-campus accommodation and free on-campus parking.

At Glyndŵr University we recognise that not all our students are 18 year olds coming straight from sixth form or college. In fact, 54% of our full-time undergraduates are over 21 on entry and 17% are over 40.

Many of our students have been inspired to enter higher education as a result of their experience and potential to learn. We offer a range of support services that can help you combine being a student with your existing roles and responsibilities.

University of Wales degrees

Glyndŵr University awards degrees of the University of Wales which are recognised world-wide.

Other courses offered include EdExcel HNC/Ds and professional qualifications at a range of levels from specific industry professional bodies.

Choice of courses

Glyndŵr University offers full and part-time courses in a range of subject areas including Art and Design; Business; Education; Youth and Community Studies; Humanities; Theatre and Performance; Computing; Communications Technology; Health and Social Care; Criminal Justice; Complementary Therapies; Science and Environment; Sport and Exercise Sciences; Built Environment and Engineering.

The courses are available at a number of different levels from HNC/Ds and foundation and honours degrees through to postgraduate degrees, professional qualifications and research degrees.

This means that there’s something to suit everyone, from college leavers to people wanting to further their career or even have a total career change.

Location

Within an hour and a half you can do it all. Wrexham is the largest town in North Wales and, as the economic centre of the region, it benefits from excellent transport links. It is close to much of the wonderful scenery that the North Wales countryside has to offer and the fantastic North Wales coastline, and yet offers easy access to and from some of the UK’s major cities including Liverpool and Manchester.
