School leavers look to the future

22 April 2009

Thousands of sixth formers with their sights set on attending university have been planning their next move in Wrexham.

Glyndŵr University hosted an annual UCAS Fair in the sports hall at its Wrexham campus on Tuesday 21 April.

Universities and higher education colleges from across the UK attended the event, offering advice and guidance to students looking to continue their studies.

Experts from Glyndŵr University were also on hand to speak to students about everything from courses of study available to ways of financing higher education study.

They were joined by Wrexham’s Mayor, councillor David Griffiths, and Mayoress, Denise Griffiths.

Event organiser Sarah Louise Edwards, Widening Access Coordinator at Glyndŵr University, was delighted with how the day went.

She said: “Choosing the right course and the right university is one of the most important decisions that thousands of young people make every year and we were pleased to have helped play a part in this.

“We’ve been running these fairs for a few years now and this was definitely one of the best in terms of attendance. Attending university is such a rewarding and valuable experience and the event showed that higher education remains as popular as ever.”
