17 September 2009

Glyndŵr University graduates are among the highest-earning in Wales, a new survey reveals.

Data on average graduate salaries for students at UK universities, compiled by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), shows those from Glyndŵr University among the top two universities in Wales and top 50 in the UK when it comes to earning power.

Students studying at the Wrexham-based University can expect to earn an average salary of £19,309 when they leave, according to the figures.

The statistics were revealed in the latest university guide, published by The Sunday Times this week, and come just months after HESA figures showed Glyndŵr University graduates to be among the most employable in Wales, with the university recording a 94.1% employability rate for all of its graduates.

Karen Lennox, head of careers at Glyndŵr University, said: "These statistics show that our graduates get jobs – and get good jobs. Careers advice is available to students throughout their time here and we’re delighted that the preparation which we provide them with for entering the jobs market is clearly paying off."

Glyndŵr University was also named as the second cheapest place to live in the UK in the annual guide to UK universities.

Students studying in Wrexham and living in University accommodation pay on average £40 a week.
