Excellence scholarship
23 December 2008
Outstanding academic achievers could benefit from a £1,000 boost towards the cost of attending university.
Glyndŵr University is offering a £1,000 merit based scholarship to eligible full time students with 300 or more UCAS points who enrol on one of their courses starting in September 2009.
Students who submit their UCAS application by the 15 January deadline and meet the criteria are eligible for the Excellence Scholarship. The award is a one-off £1,000 payment and students must accept their offer and enrol on one of Glyndŵr University's courses to receive the award.
The scholarship package is only available to new students, not returning students.
Professor Michael Scott, Vice-chancellor of Glyndŵr University, said: "The Excellence Scholarship is a new addition to the vast range of financial support opportunities which are available for Glyndŵr University students.
"The scholarship recognises that for even the brightest of students the cost of attending university can appear daunting and it will provide a welcome financial boost to many."
Glyndŵr University currently offers scholarships to care leavers, gifted athletes, Glyndŵr University alumni and international students. Scholarships are non-repayable funding assistance that is based on merit or criteria - academic or otherwise.
Students can also benefit from a number of bursaries available. These are non-repayable assistance provided to those who demonstrate financial need or meet other specific criteria.
