The Comedy Club coming to Wrexham

23 August 2006

The NEWI William Aston Hall will be full of laughter on Wednesday 27th September when there will be not one, not two but three of the best stand up comedians in the country all on one stage! Stars of the smash hit BBC Documentary “A Funny Business” are on the road and coming to Wrexham for one night of unforgettable stand up comedy.

The three Comedy Club comedians performing at the NEWI William Aston Hall are Brian Higgins; John Ryan; and Ronnie Edwards.

Brian Higgins is a Scottish comedian not to be missed in fact he is described as ‘the people’s favourite comedian’ by The Stage. He is known for his energetic delivery of topical issues including stories from his childhood, his former days as a paramedic as well as life’s general ups and downs.  As well as being one of the busiest acts on the circuit, he has headlined the best clubs not only in the UK but also in Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Ireland.

The irresistibly amiable John Ryan uses his cutting wit and seemingly encyclopaedia of knowledge of the world around him to keep any audience on their toes. His East End Irish upbringing gives him the rare ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. John's reputation for thinking on his feet and confidently and cleverly adapting his show to any audience has ensured him many TV warm-ups such as Later with Jools Holland and enabled him to perform all over the world.

A one-time Railway Porter and Reggae Musician, English-born and Jamaican bred Ronnie Edwards brings a truckload of fun to the stage wherever he performs. Using all his experiences on both sides of the Atlantic, Ronnie's streetwise humour hits the mark. Having worked with the likes of Jim Carey and Chris Rock, he is described by Now Magazine as a ‘master of zany, rapid-fire and sophisticated physical comedy’. Ronnie was a star of the US version of the Comic Strip and has also appeared on Alfred Hitchcock Presents for NBC in the States and numerous shows in his second home of Canada.

Tickets are now available and are priced at £12 or £10 for concessions, from the Tourist Information Centre, Lambpit Street, Wrexham or telephone 01978 292015. The show starts at 7.30pm and is open to over 18 year olds only.
