For those that always loved… Dolly Parton

23 February 2006

Dolly Parton will be riding into Wrexham on March 24 to sing in the NEWI William Aston Hall, or at least the British version of Dolly Parton will; Mandy Winters.

Dolly Parton is one of the world’s most successful country entertainers. With a life story that hasn’t always been glamorous and easy she pioneered the country music genre developing an attraction to wigs, flashy skin tight clothes and high stilettos along the way.

She famously stated in her 1994 autobiography “It costs a lot to make a person look this cheap” and “I’m not offended by all the dumb blond jokes because I know I’m not dumb, and I also know that I’m not blond”. It was this no nonsense ballsy attitude that helped Dolly rise to success with famous songs such as ‘9 to 5’, ‘Jolene’ and ‘I Will Always Love You” as well as a staring role in the film Steel Magnolias.

International cabaret and concert artiste Mandy Winters will pay tribute to this larger than life star in words and music, accompanied by a live band. The show will take listeners through the triumphs and heartaches of Dolly’s exciting life. Mandy is undeniably the UK’s best country and western singer and with her unique style she has thrilled audiences all over the world.

The show is on Friday 24th March at 7.30pm in the NEWI William Aston Hall.  Tickets are £10 and available from The Tourist Information Centre, Lambpit Street, Wrexham or telephone 01978 292015.
