A free course that really communicates

22 June 2006

People are getting the chance to improve what they say and how they say it in July at NEWI. A new free course offered by NEWI’s Humanities department on Personal and Professional Communication is being run from July 3rd for a week to enable people to improve their communication and presentation skills.

The four day course will develop people’s skills in effective listening, speaking, undertaking interviews and reaching an audience as well as building their confidence in public speaking and presentation performance including use of voice, movement and actions as communication tools.

The course will include practical work in NEWI’s theatre studios and will use film and video to explore what works and what could work a little better. The programme will be delivered through a mixture of lectures, presentations, seminars and practice-oriented workshops. The students will submit a portfolio at the end of the course and undertake a short presentation which will be their assessment. They will then receive a Certificate in Personal and Professional Communication on successful completion of the course.

People interested in going on the course should book their place with Nikki Johnson either via email on n.johnson@newi.ac.uk or telephone 01978 293169.
