Welcome from the Vice-Chancellor
There are all sorts of things that you might be looking for from the university you choose: course variety, academic expertise, a safe location with a strong sense of community, a campus with all the facilities you need, supportive and friendly lecturers... you will find all these and more at Glyndŵr University.
But you’ll be asking yourself what makes this university special? Why should I choose to spend the next few years of my life here? Here at Glyndŵr University we are proud of our enterprising spirit. This impacts on everything we do at the University, from our name - inspired by Welsh hero Owain Glyndŵr - right through to our everyday actions.
This doesn’t just mean turning our graduates into the next Richard Branson, although we do have a strong record of providing excellent support for our graduates wanting to start their own businesses. To us it means that we work hard to keep our courses up to date and industry relevant through building partnerships with national and international businesses; we are creative in our thinking, often introducing courses which are the first of their kind in the UK; and we are sustainable and bold in how we operate our University.
We believe in people’s potential and opening up university life to all, whether it’s people visiting the campus to use our facilities or those who decide to study here. We don’t believe that there should be barriers to people fulfilling their potential, and past and current students consistently praise the University’s staff for the help and support offered to them throughout their courses.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to come to one of our open days to see for yourself. I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the University.
Professor Michael Scott
